- Global oil demand has finally turned the corner, with oil use in 4Q09 up on 4Q08, after five consecutive quarters of year-on-year decline.
- The recovery in oil use remains fragile, though, and concentrated in developing countries.
- Upward pressure on oil prices from rising demand is being offset by high stocks and growing supplies from non-OPEC countries plus OPEC NGLs.
- Despite rising demand, market fundamentals are not expected to support upward pressure on oil prices in 2010.
